O Adam Yauch γεννήθηκε στο Brooklyn της Νέας Υόρκης στις 5 Αυγούστου 1964 και εκτός από το συγκρότημα του είχε ασχοληθεί πολύ ενεργά στο κίνημα για την απελευθέρωση του Θιβέτ και ήταν συνδιοργανωτής στις συναυλίες Tibetan Freedom Concerts στα τέλη της δεκαετίας του 90.
